weird problem

I have a weird problem with excel for some reason formulas have stopped
working and are not updating totals when I change values. Also some plus
signs (+) have appeared in the formulas.

The file has probably been set to manual calculation rather than
automatic - go to Tools | Options | Calculation tab and ensure that
automatic recalculation is checked.
