weird history

My IE6 history will show stuff from 2 and 3 weeks ago but not from last
week. What on earth could cause such odd behavior?

Possibly your History folder is corrupt:
[XP\2K]
Log on as Administrator and delete the desired <username> folder(s).
[example]
"C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\HISTORY"

Well I have McAfee AV but dont see anything about ActiveX stuff in the
configuration anywhere and there is nothing in that History folder mentioned
below. Some more digging is in order I think.
