Hello

I have a friend who uses the webtv platform for e-mail.
She claims she cannot open a powerpoint slideshow she
received by e-mail. Is this true and if not how can she
open this slideshow.

p.s I am not a Webtv user.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

This is true. The WebTV product is based on the Windows CE platform and
there is no PowerPoint Viewer available for that platform (which is why she
cannot open the attachments). An alternative is to send her a link to a web
site which contains an HTML version of the presentation. Or, if you are
using PowerPoint 2002 or PowerPoint 2003 you could try sending the
presentation to her as a Single File Web Page (*.MHTML) <I'm not sure
whether the browser on WebTV will understand it, but it's worth a try>.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide a PowerPoint Viewer for Windows CE platform devices,
don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft
at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
