The no of websites that won't work on my PC seems to be growing. They are
all one where I click on a button on the first page, and nothing happens. I
have no pop up blockers that I am aware of. Is there anything I can try?

on a button on the first page mean??

are you saying the web page displays but no controls on the page function??
do you have a active x blocker like spyware blaster?
Do you have ie7 or 6?
do you notice any kind of drop down bar that says pop up blocked, it may be
gold colored just under the URL box within ie?

I mean the homepage of say the bank or the home page of a weather site that
then gives active buttons to click on.

Try telling us which browser and version you are using. Some sites won't
work on Firefox, for example, or on older versions of IE.
