Recently my PC has developed a new aggrevation. I would get into a website,
and selected words in the text would be highlighted. When I click on the
hightlited word, it would take me to a commercial site. I couldn't get back
from there to the original website. What's going on? Is this something
Gates has added to Windows XP or Outlook Express?

Some websites don't want you to be able to go back to where you came from.
VERY irritating. I've found in most cases though that if you click the page
back arrow repeatedly very quickly it will go.

Looks like your browser's been hijacked. Go to Tools/Internet Options and
on the General tab Delete Cookies and Delete Files. I would also select "Use
Blank" which should give a blank startup page.

Hope this helps,

Ed

To remove browser hijackers and other spyware, use tools like Spybot
Search & Destroy (www.security.kolla.de) and Ad-aware
(www.lavasoftusa.com). Also, although I don't think your problem is
because of a virus, be sure you are running a current (post-2002
version) updated antivirus program.
