can I put an icon on the desktop to connect quickly and directly to
frequently used websites. In help it said to right click blank desktop,
click properties, desktop tab, click customize and follow screen
instructions. I did and it seemed to work but an icon didn't magically
appear on my desktop.
thanks

Rich,

Right click on an empty area in the Desktop and click New. Select
"Shortcut". Type the web address (Example: http://www.google.com) for which
you want to create a desktop shortcut. Give a name to the shortcut, and
click Finish.

Windows Help was showing you how to display a web site on your desktop,
perhaps as your desktop background.. I've never tried it.

You want to right-click the site you use frequently, click Create Shortcut.
