Webbot Message Board

I read that FrontPage 2003 has capability to create message boards by itself.
Does anyone have experience with this? I use FP 2003 and am looking into
message board options. Some bad freeware out there, and some not bad
inexpensive ones. But would rather create myself if possible -- and this new
FP 2003 feature looks like a great possibility (if I can do it).

1. FP2003 has the Discussion Web component, which has been around since FP98.

2. FP2003 also has the ability to use a new discussion forum feature, if hosted on a Windows 2003
Server with Windows SharePoint Services installed and running.

Thanks for the info. I am wondering if you have used the Discussion Web
component or the new discussion forum feature in FP 2003 -- and if so, how
was your experience with it? Do you consider it a viable alternative to
downloading pre-made forum software? In other words, from your experience, do
you recommend going with FP 2003 discussion board or buying/downloading
discussion software?

The FP Discussion web is very limited, most folks go for a 3rd Party database driven forum
application and I have not use the new FP2003 WSS Discussion web

very basic.

you can't really moderate or lock out trolls or porno posts.

a separate forum/portal program would be better if you intend to have a lot of traffic...there are lots of free (or very low cost) programs like this out there...find out first what your host may have or what they support.

I run a couple in subwebs of my fp webs - if you're gonna to that route i'd recommend putting it in a subweb.
