Webbot bot=search

I am trying to use the Webbot bot=search bot in FrontPage 2003 and
have a few questions. Is it possible to modify the results of the bot
to be specific font and size? Also, how do you go about minimizing
your search so you do not pick up your old test files? I have edited
the Index File (at least I thought I did) on the server to not have
these files yet they are still being picked up. Any suggestions or
help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The search bot will ignore files that are in directories that begin with an
underscore if I remember correctly. Doing a Recalculate Hyperlinks on the
web should get them removed from the index.

Unfortunately, you can't modify the search bot results. You can get sneaky
though and define CSS styles that alter the base text created and apply it
only on that particular search page so it doesn't over-ride your default
settings on other pages. It's a hack to be sure, but the search bot is
pretty much hard-coded to do things as minimally as possible since it's a
fairly ancient component in the FP Server Extensions and comes from a
different era in web and HTML design.

Hope this helps,

Mark,

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have the results looking halfway
decent now but still have some of the old files that I don't want
showing up in the search appearing. I created a new file called
_old_files, put them all in this folder and recalculated the server
extensions and it still didn't work. What I'm getting really confused
on is the _vti_cnf file on the server does not show these files in the
folder yet when you do the search they appear.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

If using the default FF WAIS search try resetting your search
See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q170975/

If using IIS Index Catalog
- try clearing your catalog and rebuilding it

_vti_cnf folders (there is one in every folder except some of those with
names commencing _vti*) have nothing to do with the FrontPage search -
these folders contain meta data about every file in the folder relating
to links with other files, publishing and authors.

Open the site in FrontPage and run Tools->Recalculate Hyperlinks. This
may correct the search data. However, if you are using a Windows server
with Index Service running then the search will obtain its information
from the Index Service database, and this will take time to be updated.
