Web Printing

I have Web Printing setup on a Windows 2000 server. When I go to the
printer page using a web browser (http://servername/printers) I see all my
printers listed. But when I click on them, nothing happens but a screen
refresh. It's my understanding that it's supposed to automatically install
the printer to my machine. That's not happening. I know this because when
I go to my printer list, it's not there. Am I missing something?

Sylvan,
If you go to Network Neightboorhood and browse to the server in question
then open the printer you see then it will install it on your pc. I have not
heard of doing this through I.E. yet.

This is a neat but under utilized feature that was added to Win2k. I have
to admit when using this feature in a true internet environment it is slow.
If the two machine are on the intranet, the connection that is made is the
same as a normal connection.

When you click on the printer this should open a view that will have a link
titled Connect in the left pane, which will create the connection.

I am assuming you rebooted or restarted the spooler server after setting up
IIS web service. If not, that's the problem.

If my assumption is correct, use the IIS manager (admin tools) and verify
the printer asp files exist and that you have read access to them. There is
a Printers under Default Web Site
Printer asp files physically exist in winnt\web\printers
