web pages showing X instead of pics.....?????

All of a sudden, my web pages are showing a red x where there used to be pictures and ads. what happened? how do I fix it????

Go to search at microsoft,type:macromedia Youll get directed to thier
web page,install shockwave player,then flash player.One or the other
usually comes with windows OS,maybe yours is outdated.

What about pictures that do not show up from one website while others do on
the same site? For example, in an MSN group, the photo album page shows all
of the pictures, but if you go to view as slideshow or double click one, I
get the red X.
