I have been having an issue with IE6_SP2 for about a week now.

I'm using WinXp Pro SP2, Automatic Updates, Zone Alert, and McAfee antivirus.
All are set for automatic update and are current.

I have completed virus scans, spywsre scans, cache cleaning, LSP
reset, registry cleaning, etc. All to no avail.

Here's the problem:
When the security setting for internet is set to medium, the web pages lood
VERY slowly. There is a pause in network activity for about 10 seconds while
the page is loaded.

If I change the security setting to high, the page loads almost immediately.
But in this mode scripting, activeX, etc are disabled.

Anyone have any idea what's broken?

Thanks,
Cecil

Are you behind a corporate network? Have you tried using a custom level for
your security settings to let you access the page? For instance, you
mentioned that when you set the seurity settings to high the page loads
immediately, so try doing that and then change the indivdual settings that
need to be adjusted in order for you to browse the web efficiently.

Hope this posts... I've tried to send this 4 times already without it being
posted..

AD,

Thanks for your reply.

Your suggestion will work but I am a little paranoid about tweaking the
settings, there are too many things there that I don't completely understand.

I have the browser set to high and have added several sites to my "Trusted
Site" list. This works on most of the sites but curiously don't work on this
discussion group even though I have added *.microsoft.com to the trusted
list. ??

BTW, I'm not behind a company firewall and do not have proxy enabled. I am
behind a wireless router but have tried removing it and directly connecting
to the cable modem without any change in performance.

My real question though is what changed? Last week I had the browser set at
medium security and everything worked fine.

Thanks again for you response.

Cecil
