web browser pics. gone ??

Help! I'm not sure what I did but when I open internet
explorer yahoo, and several other web sites alot of the
picture links are not showing up. There is a small X in
the top left corner of the box, but the link still works.
I have windows XP Pro.
Anyone have any ideas?

In IE, go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
Click on the Advanced tab.
Scroll down to the Multimedia section and make sure the box "Show Pictures" is
ticked.

Thanks, I did try that with no luck. it's not all the pics.
but justseems to be the gifs
