We use these two Help sites often

Unsolicited advertising = spam.
Advertising your website without ever helping out in this group and gaining
respect is spam. A web link in a signature may be acceptable, if you
participate regularly.
This is a help news group, not a place to advertise your website. Yes they
are help websites, but it looks to me like the op just wants to generate
traffic to their website for their own benefit. This group is for the
benefit of the people who need help. The helpers get nothing but
satisfaction in return.

Greetings --

If that were true, you'd have replied to the post asking for the
sites, and you would not have posted to multiple, unrelated
newsgroups. As it is, this appears to be nothing more than a lame
attempt to spam, and is unwelcome.

Just curious but why is this a spam alert?

The ones whining and pissing and moaning about it, are afraid that people
won't come here and listen to them all give contradicting answers to their
problems and/or are just jealous that *they* didn't know about these places to
add in their own sigs or whatever.

The OP, Ellen, has posted these notices about these "help"
sites many times before. She says things like, "I've been
asked for these", but she always posts a new thread and she
posts to all the groups. The sites she is listing may
actually be useful, but my guess is that they will want
something.

I added SPAM ALERT just so people will be warned.

Hmmm...lots of people have 'help site' URL's in their sigs or just type it in
during their answer. Is that SPAM too then? Quit being a hypocrate.
Since when is giving a website that *helps* users, 'not' helping? Who said
that you have to be a "regular user" here to be able to do this? Who made the
definition of "regular users" here? You? Who the shit are *you*?
Looks to me like you're pulling shit out of your ass just to bitch and whine
about someone wanting to help others also. No one asked you what it 'looks like
to you', and you have no certainty (by your own words) that what you're saying
is true at all. What an ass! Shove your hypocrasy right back up your bunghole,
you envious cretin.

And the difference being they are giving a link to help a specific problem
that is being discussed within the thread.
Not even almost the same thing as starting a new post just to give these
links.

Lets be realalistic here. The only reason this person keeps posting their
website over and over in multiple off-topic groups is because they want to
benefit from it. They do not come here to help others, they come here to try
to gain money from unsuspecting people from a wanna-be tech. This is not the
place for that. This group is here to help other people and for real techs
to exchange information. It is not here for personal gain. If you want to
advertise your website/business get real ad time on tv or in the newspapers.
This group is here to help people with computer problems and that's it. If
the op wishes to help out in here on a regular basis, then I see nothing
wrong with adding a link to their website in their signature, but drive-by
ad posting is highly frowned upon on ANY newsgroup in the usenet community
and is considered spam and very rude. Many of the regulars that help out in
here, including myself, have our own tech support businesses, but we do not
just post an advertisment to our site in a new thread and never come back
again, like the op. This would be spam. Unsolicited advertising = spam.
Plain and simple.

Aren't *you* a "wanna-be tech" by being here and doing whatever it is you're
doing here?
I didn't notice anyplace on the sites that requested money. Did you?

Funny, I thought a 'help site' for people looking for 'help', was,
well...'helpful'. Since when *isn't* it?

Who asked you if "you see nothing wrong with it"? Since when is your word
here, law? You still don't answer the question, 'who the shit are *you*'?
There's far more bs and OT 'conversations' going on in here than worrying
about a person spamming once a mess of NG's with their help site URL's, so quit
whining. I never see you trying to tell any of the long OT conversations to
'stop'.

So do so, you idiot. Sheesh. People are always telling of Kelly's site, what's
the BFD?
