WD Passport not appearing in Windows Explorer

I bought a Western Digital WD Passport USB 2.0 drive. The first time I
installed it, Windows Explorer found it and I was able to copy some files to
it. Then, during copy, Windows Explorer froze (I've been having numerous
problems with this machine lately). I rebooted the machine and now the
external hard drive won't show up in Windows Explorer. Device Manager shows
that the drive is loaded and that it is fine.

Did something get reset so it isn't showing in Explorer? Is there a fix for
this? I really need to get this machine backed up so I can do a clean install
on it.

I found the problem. It has a bad read sector on it. I tried repairing it
using tools from Western Digital's Web site and that didn't work.
