WD HDD Failure

I have an external USB WD 250 GB hdd, but it fell of the floor last
week and cannot see drive letters on windows.
I've already changed the enlcosure to make sure it is not the problem,
but still can't see drives and reach data inside of hdd.
I ran diagnostic progam for WD it can see the drive is there but still
cannot see partitions. Is there anything that I can do to fix this
drive with/without losing data?

thanks,

Can I just check: Do you want to repair the drive, even if that means
losing data? Or do you want to recover the data, even if that means you
lose the drive?

I've used data recovery software and rescued data from an NTFS disk that
had the head locked in the parked position. I had to take the lid off and
tape the head back.

If you just want to repair the drive: It's not something that I would do.
Samsung 250GB HDs cost about £50, roughly $92USD.

There is nothing you can do. Professional data recovery is
you only hope. And stop powering the drive up, you may do
more damage and make recovery more expensive....

Not every likely, its the hard drive that is shock sensitive.

What does it say about the health of the drive ?

Professional recovery may be able to
get your data back, but it isnt that cheap.

Best not to do anything more to the drive if you will slash your wrists if
you cant get the data back and do plan to use professional recovery.

You'll just have to die, boy.

At least have the decency to die quietly, nothing too unspeakable |-)

Hello, Rod:

Okay, then, is it an international organization, and/or based in
Australia? <g>
