way too long (over 2 min) boot time in SP2 Help!!

I think I have narrowed it down to a device problem. Upon going into event
viewer I see the error stating the following "\Device\Ide\IdePort1\ , did
not respond within the timeout period." This appears to be causing my long
boot up time of almost 2 minutes. What the heck does this mean. Is there a
setting (bios or registry) I can change that will eliminate this timeout
period and just boot
the damn machine up??

Thanks in advance,

ray

i got the exact same error
and i am told it has something to do with the cd roms and no one can figure
out why- not even microsoft
i was told to:
update bios
update drivers if there are any for the cd rom(s)
if there are not- uninstall then reinstall the driver

i plan to try to put back sp2 tomorrow- i did all this and see if the error
msg goes away

Yeah I'm figuring it is a hardware problem of some sort and of course I
cannot find any info. So process of elimination as usual. Thanks for the
reply.
