using dell desktop e521, vista home premium, IE7.

is there a way to view the history in internet explorer without opening
intertnet explorer?

searched vista help. i tried viewing thru explorer, but do not see history
listed on any of the toolbars in view.

not sure if this should be posted in the IE group; thought i'd try this
group first.

no problems, just looking for the steps to perform this.

thank you, len kiesling

Yes. It's a bit involved to set it up, but once you do it's just a
shortcut click at your finger tips.

Or easier still right click the explorer desktop icon, choose properties and
history is on the general tab. Click settings and view from there.

thank you for reply! this answers another question i had, but never followed
thru. (accessing the TIF's in an explorer window).

i'm looking to view the folders listed on the left side in IE, when i select
the 'star' under file>history. a window opens on the left side, displaying
folders showing 3 weeks ago, 2 weeks ago, etc to today. when i open any of
the folders, there is a list of sub folders with recent websites visited.

i can only access history thru IE in vista.

i can access the history, (not the TIF's) in xp's & 98se's explorer window,
by viewing it under view>explorer bar>history.

i hope this clarifies things, & any ideas greatly appreciated.

today, etc.

no explorer icon. if i right click it, there is no history listed. i do know
how to view the TIF's thru internet options, but not the history subfolders,
3 weeks ago, 2 weeks ago, etc.

any further ideas greatly appreciated!

do you want the "History" or "Temporary Internet Files" (sometimes
referred to as the "Cache")? I've been using IEHistoryView (Google
knows where it is at, I dont offhand) and it seems to work fine,
though it's not completely IE7/Vista compatible...you will have to use
the "Browse to Folder" feature to browse thru each users History
folder structures :)

thank you for searching too! that's what i arrived at-IE has to be opened.

maybe someone will create a fix to an explorer's window view>explorer bar &
add history to it.

possibly a "kelly fix".

thank you for reply! it's the history. the subfolders are: 3 weeks ago, 2

so far, IE7 has to be opened to view history, & subfolders. in win 98se, &
xp, i can view history from an explorer window. view>explorer bar>history.
