wave sound. wont play!!

Hi all,
I tried to record a "wave sound file" using my microphone and the sound
recorder. the progress meter goes but when i try to play it back there is no
sound just a steady green line on the sound recorder it is the 1st time i
have tried the sound recorder so can anyone see were i am going wrong? can i
use this as a dictophone?
 
Hi,

Try testing your soundcard/microphone first ...

1. Open Control Panel
2. Doubleclick 'Sounds and Audi Devices'
3. Click on Voice tab
4. Click on 'Test Hardware' button and follow prompts.

did the sound test and it says device is working properly but there is still
no sound
