wav volume in ppt?

Hi there,

Don't use ppt very much but do have to play demos quite often.

Recently received one which has video clips and wav files embedded in the
slides, and which comes on a cd-r set to access the file through Powerpoint
Viewer. After an initial lock up or two, where the viewer caused the cpu to
go to 100%, I got it playing, but when the loudspeaker icons are clicked the
wav files are barely audible (I do have all the notification area sound
settings to full (SoundmaxDigitalAudio in a Dell pc), though it is usually
preferable to listen via Realplayer as this is always somewhat louder).

If I open the cd files in Explorer and click on the wav files, they play in
Realplayer, and are louder, but still not very.

I can't find any volume settings for the slides in ppt, so how does one up
the volume of the wavs?

In the full version of ppt (maybe only 2003 not sure) you can right click
the sound icon >>edit sound object and set the volume.

Also, ensure that your Windows wav volume control are set somewhere around
maximum. To do that, double click on the volume icon on the taskbar. If the
Wave (not the volume control itself) is not showing, click Options >
Properties. Under "Adjust voume for", select Playback. Put a checkmark on
wave. Click Ok. Drag the volume for wave to the max. Hope this helps.

Thanks to you both:

We have ppt 2002, and right clicking the sound icon only gives the option of
looping it: no volume settings (I've checked: this also pertains if I copy
the files from the read only disc and make them not read only.)

The system volume settings already include the wav slider. This along with
all the others is at full: and I also have them all set at full left and
only use one speaker to get as much volume as I can! (Our Dell Optiplex GX
270 has no built in speaker: and I suspect it lacks a pre amp that that
would entail and might help!)

Ta for trying and good to see the responses are a prompt in this group as in
the other ms ones.
