delete embedded wav file

Hello Group,
(PPT 2003)
I know this has been addressed before, but I'm still confused. I
embedded a wav file into a presentation by going to Slide Show\Slide
Transition\modify transition\sound and chose "other sound" in the
dropdown box. I navigated to the location of the wav file and clicked
on it to embed it and chose for it to loop.
It worked fine, but later I wanted to replace the original wav file
with another one, so I did it again, adding a second wav file.
Can I delete the original wav file?
I thought deleting it would be cleaner and free up unnecessary space,
but deleting the original wav file seems difficult or impossible.
I read in this group of saving the ppt file as an html file, then
deleting the unwanted wav file in the new output folder. This works,
but then how do I recompile the html file back into a ppt file?
I hope there's a simpler way. Or should I just leave both wave files
embedded?

Many thanks.

Hi Jack,

This worked for me, to delete an embedded .wav file in PowerPoint 2002:

Save as a .ppt / Click thumbnail #1 / Click SLIDESHOW / CUSTOM SHOW / Right
click on the name of the sound file / Click REMOVE.

Good Luck.

Many thanks! I've copied your suggestions for safekeeping and will try
them tonight.
