watermark in the header

Hi,

I saw a document where the logo was a watermark in the header section. I tried to create a watermark, but it would make the logo huge and centered in the middle, even though I sized it correctly. Is it simple as adding a picture in the header? I however, do not want people to be able to click on the header section and edit. Would this involve protecting the document? What if I want people to be able to edit the text, just not the watermark?

Thanks,

Leila

Depends how you create the watermark, I supposed. Here's how I'd do it

View-Header and footer, and paste or insert the picture. Make sure you're in View-Page Layout, and your view zoom is set to Whole page. Then you can really have perspective. You can use Format-Picture, Layout tab, then Advanced to set the alignment right in the center of the page or whatever measures you want from the edge of the page or margin, etc. Also under Format-Picture, you can set the image to "washout" or "watermark" (depends on version). Also set the image to be BEHIND text

If you don't want anyone to touch the header/footer, yes, you'll have to protect the document

<-*-><-*-><-*-><-*-><-*-><-*-><-*-><-*-
Hope this helps

A watermark is simply a pale graphic placed behind the text. If you put it
in the header it will appear on every page the header applies to. If you
protect the document you severely curtail the ability of a user to edit the
document. Ultimately it is impossible to protect any document that you allow
a user to see so why do you need to protect this image?

Hi

Thanks for the response. I was just curious. I received a document like the one I described and wondered how they did it. I remember a while back, I got another document where the logo was in the header section, and could not be moved or edited in any way, but the text and everything could be. I still wonder how that is done..

Thanks

It was probably done by protecting the document for forms. There's a page on
this on the MVP FAQ site.
