Just had a crazy idea and wanted to see if any 1 tried this before:
Take a water cooler, drain water, fill it with alcohol and mount
peltier to the heat sink with a separate heat sink and fan, driving
temperature of water/alcohol coolers heat sink to -10ish degrees C.
Theoretically one could freeze cpu to temps below freezing without
liquid nitrogen cooler.

One inadvertent crack in a piece of the tubing directing the alcohol
could burn your house down. I wouldn't trust my house to anything with a
flammable coolant, in case of a leak. Otherwise, it would probably work
well. I wonder if anti freeze for autos is flammable? Never tried to
burn it.

Are you talking about EtOH? Why not add a less volatile compound, such
as ethylene glycol, instead of alcohol? You don't put alcohol in your
car radiator, do you?

For the cooling methods that cool below ambient, they
insulate the cold parts, to prevent condensation from
forming on the motherboard. If the CPU is cooled below
ambient, and there is no protection from condensation,
the motherboard can die in less than a year, from corrosion.

So each of the methods has a level of risk associated with it.

Do a Google search for the following:

"How to Cool your PC with cooking Oil - DIVX Video - How to Doku -
English 2007"

The *.avi format video is about 21 MB and shows construction of a PC
completely filled with corn oil. Yes it's an insane idea, but appears
to work.

I don't personally recommend following the example, because the oil
filled computer would be very heavy and would create one awful mess if
it ever leaked.

Also, I'm a hobbyist and keep changing components. Don't think I'd
like to handle corn oil soaked video cards, etc.

Like the others said, isopropyl rubbing alcohol is flammable, right out
of the bottle. Probably not a good idea.
