My Norton said it found an infection in the wast.exe file
on my computer. This file is on my startup list, so it
runs at startup. It is also on my uninstall list, which
means I can uninstall it. I am wondering if anyone knows
what the program is?

I ran a new scan for viruses and it didn't show up again,
but now I wonder if I need this program at all? I can't
seem to find any information on it on the Web.

Thanks for any help

It is not a windows program, delete it.
For more info run a google search for it.

A quick Google gets me the information that this wast.exe is a bad file
and you should just get rid of it.

Ad-Aware should help with this problem. (wast.exe is part of Adtomi)

For FREE version of Ad-Aware 6.0: Go to:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com

Then click the Download link on the left side,
and on the next page click Ad-aware, which is the FREE version) which
detects spyware, adware, scumware, and will remove it (don't delete anything
until you send a copy to quarantine first. That way if you delete something
that might be needed, you can restore it from quarantine. Some programs
will not run without data miners etc.). Before scanning your drive with
Ad-Aware, click the Check for Updates Now link in the main window. As with
an antivirus program, spyware definitions are frequently updated. So,
scanning before you have the latest definitions could be a waste of time if
you're infected with a something new.

Thanks for the help, guys. I have AdAware. It won't
clean out all my stupid spyware, unfortunately. But I
did delete the wast file. Now I just have a problem with
a reg file that has a guardian connected to a winlogon
file. It's msg121.dll. Haven't been able to find a
program that will delete it for me and I'm scared to go
into my reg files and mess with them.

I don't know if this is causing my current problem, but
SOMETHING is disarming my popup blocker. It's making me
crazy!

Thanks again for your help. :)
