Warning of the security center doesn't work

The security center doesn't warn me anymore when I disable my resident
scanner of my anti virus to play games.
The AV program is Avast Pro (updated this morning) and I disable to run
games with high system requirements (Far Cry and the like).

I had a (possibly) not related problem with Windows Update and some guys
gave me a great batch file with a lot of regserv entries and it worked
again. Something similar available for this problem?

Underneath the specs of my machine as per Dxdiag:

Windows Security Center does not recognize Avast!. Therefore, I would infer
that your monitoring of antivirus has been disabled. If this is the case,
you will not get a warning that your antivirus is not running when you
disable it. To re-enable monitoring, change the setting in Security Center
(via Control Panel). However, this will not net you anything except a
constant warning that your computer is not protected as, again, Windows
Security Center does not recognize Avast!

I had thought of that and checked. It says: "avast! antivirus 4.5.603
[VPS 0508-0] reports that it up to date and virus scanning is on"
When I disabled it some time ago it always gave me the balloon with the
warning, it stopped doing that approximately two weeks ago.
