warm boot problem - manageable, but annoying

Does anyone have any idea why that whenever I perform
a "warm boot" (allow windows to restart my computer, as
opposed to resetting or powering off and on) when the
computer restarts neither the keyboard, nor the mouse are
recognized. In other words I am forced to re-boot with
the reset button on the front of the computer. I am
extremely computer literate (built this one and many
others myself), love everything (else) about XP, just
can't figure out why I'm having this one problem -
figured I'd ask, as someone else must've encountered this
problem.

Thanks for any input...

I bet this just started happening. You can trace it back
to the latest set of updates offered by Microsoft Aug13-
14. Try unplugging your mouse and if you can remove it
from the serial port and plug it into the USB Port. It
seems that one of their latest updates has messed up the
serial ports and you can no longer have two devices
plugged into serial ports. Good luck.
