booting problem, not sasser

Ok, to start out, I used Microsoft's tool to rule out
sasser, also used Housecall from TrendMicro, also
negative. Am currently only able to boot to safe mode.

Windows XP Pro. installed 2 weeks ago and fully updated.

From the beginning: problems started yesterday when I
booted up. Windows booted fine except no keyboard or
mouse. Both were through USB through a USB hub on my
monitor. Reset, same result plus a notification that a
USB device has failed. I figured the hub had failed,
reset anyway. Computer booted up normally including mouse
and keyboard. Worked fine the rest of the day.

Today: Same start without keyboard or mouse, but only in
windows. Reset several times, no change. Then no more
booting into windows at all, restarts before login
screen. Also, no more keyboard for accessing bios or
safemode. Disconnected hub, keyboard and mouse directly
to PC. Both work, but still no windows, only safemode. I
disabled the boot-on-stop, finally got a blue screen,
saying something about irp stacks. Restarted into
safemode, ran the sasser tool and online virus scan, both
negative. And so here I am.

Any ideas?

Hi,

You mentioned something about blue screen, can you post the stop code and
which windows module having problem? These information is going to help
people in knowing why the blue screen is there in the first place.

However, it looks like some hardware conflict that corrupted some settings.
Also if you want USB keyboard support in BIOS, you have to switch on the USB
lagacy support in the BIOS. But different bios name it different, some bios
may said "USB Keyboard support" so look into your motherboard manual for
more info.

Hope this helps.
