Wanting to Fax

I want to send faxes from my computer, but am unsure of how to get started and whether or not my computer can actually do it. Is there a complete idiots step-by-step out there and a way to see if my modem is capable of sending faxes? Thanks.

1. Open XP's "Help and Support Center".
2. Type FAX in the SEARCH box and hit enter.
3. Click on "Using Fax".
