Hello,

I need to replace my current Chieftec BH-01B-B-SL miditower case.

The chieftec case is beautifull black with a black door with silver in
the middle.

It is extra long which is nice for placing monster graphics cards.

It has space for 6 sata harddisks, 3 cd rom bays, 1 disk drive bay.

It also has a patented easy mount system for harddisks, and cd/dvd
drives and even the floppy disks.

And the best part is, it all fits into a miditower for easy carrieing
around, has pretty good airflow, and even dust filters were available
but could not buy at a reseller.

The big problem in my oppinion is:

The bad/flawky/defective power button, which get stuck, and makes the
leds flicker which probably can't be good, which probably caused my
motherboard to die.

At the time these kind of miditowers were very rare, maybe they still
are... spent lot's of time finding this case.

What is your experience, do you happen to have a case just like this
but with a good power button, if so what's the manufacturers name,
model, airflow properties and color, do you have a link ?

Did the power supply come with it ?

I need a new case as soon as possible =D

Bye,
Skybuck.

Hmm,

There might be another option:

Replacing the front of the midi tower with a chieftec replacement.

I think the front can come off.

The roundness of the power button/it's design is the main problem.

However maybe it also has a hidden bad electronics design problem.

Skybuck.

Hmmm,

Well my motherboard just came back to life, after resetting the cmos,
by unplugging the power cables, removing the battery, and moving a
jumper... probably to short it... which means removing any remaining
voltages or so ??? (and moving jumper back ofcourse)

I don't know how the jumper does it's work... but it worked... now
motherboard beeping again <- that's good.

Guess I can hold off the new case for a while.

Bye,
Skybuck.

Or just replace the power switch.

In my experience, power buttons and the like are very rarely
non-standard. Sure, the actual button you press is unique to the case
and some weird shape -- but, at least 9 times out of 10, that's just a
simple piece of plastic which itself pushes on a completely standard
switch. You should be able to just replace the switch.

Well,

My PC has slipped back into a coma.

So I might have to go with plan B afterall:

1. Get new case.

2. Get new motherboard.

How does the power button operate ?

Is it a normal power button or is it a "touch" power button ?

If it's a "touch" power button then the reviewers missed it <- lack of
attention to details ;)

Expensive case too !

Not yet sure if the length is ok ;)

The power button is round-shaped so that can't be good... unless it's
a touch power button ???

Bye,
Skybuck.
