Want to suppress double booking of appointments in a resource

We want to utilize the capability of suppressing double booking of
appointments on the calendar for conference rooms used as resources, but it
is not working. We are getting error messages and it seems this is a known
problem to MS. Does anyone know when it will be fixed or have an alternative
solution? All we want to do is book only one appointment at a time for a
given conference room (not an unreasonable thing to do!) Any thoughts or
suggestions?

In the profile of the meeting room you need to set the resource scheduling to
automatically decline conflicting bookings
