Want to save but get error 16389

I am going to wipe my laptop as it's getting unbearable to run, loads of
gliches etc but when i put a DVD in and try to open a new folder so i can
drag and drop stuff into the DVD i get an error box saying it's unable to
open a new folder due to error 16389
Can anyone explain how i can get my stuff from my hard drive onto the DVD in
simple terms please!

Hi Gilly,

It is my understanding that XP does not support drag-and-drop to DVD's. It
only works on CD's.

You will need third-party software like Nero to do that.

You haven't provided much information, such as where you are trying to
"open" (do you mean create?) a new folder and with what program.

Do some reading in these links for a Google web and Groups search. Seems to
be a lot of info on this.

Four points here:

1. Are you sure that this drive is a DVD burning drive, not just a DVD
reader or a CD burner?

2. If the drive does burn DVDs, are you sure you are using the correct type
of DVD (+R or -R) for your drive?

3. Windows does not natively support burning to a DVD at all. Unless you are
using third-party software, you can't burn DVDs.

4. Windows doesn't support drag and drop to a CD or DVD.That too requires
third-party software.
