Want to make W2K server be a PDC

Hans

Hi everyone,

I have 3 machines:
- one NT4 server which is PDC currently.
- another NT4 server which is BDC currently.
- one W2k server which is not a controller but made joined to current
domain already.

What I would like to do is:
- make the W2K server become the new PDC
- make original BDC become W2K and as BDC continuiously
- make original PDC become W2K but not a controller at all

How do I acomplish this? Any suggestion would be very appreciated!

Windows 2000 can only be a DC not a PDC or BDC. You will
have to reinstall WINNT if you want the server to be a PDC.

This would require a migration to Win2k and Active Directory. Win2k server
cannot be a Domain controller in a NT4 domain. I would suggest some reading
on this migration as it is not something to take lightly and everything has
changed with a Win2k and up domain over NT4.

Read my post over in: "microsoft.public.windows.server.general". I just
did the same thing last week with NT 4.0 and Windows 2003 server. Search
for my name or the subject "2003 Domain Controller Question". Will check
back later to see how you are doing.
