want to change color of non-slide background

In slide-sorter view, there is some space around the slides.

In my system, the color has always been white.

Is it possible through some setting to change this color to another ?

Alternately, Is it possible using VBA to change this color to
another ?

The reason for this request is because I run slideshows in a dimmed
room and the contrast is uncomfortable.

Thanks in advance.

You can change the background to anything you want. A different colour, or an image the choice is yours. Which version of PowerPoint are you using?

I think that "space around the slides" color is actually a Windows setting.
Except in PPT 2007, you get either blue, black, or silver. You can switch
among those three by going to Office Button | PPT Options and choosing them
in the "color scheme" dropdown on that first tab.

White is the normal default for the PowerPoint blank slide when you start a new presentation. This can be changed by applying a new background or template.
This could also have something to do with your projector. I assume your using a projector when you mentioned dimmed room in your first post.

Hello Echo,

Do you know where to change the setting with PPT 2003?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but you missed the point I was making.

And, I only quickly read your post and missed that fact that you
didn't understand what area I spoke of.

I am not referring to the slide background of each slide, I am
referring to the "space around the slides". For example in "normal
view" there is white space around the slides in the left pane, where
the slide thumbnails are shown, but a dary-grey background in the
right pane where the details of one slide are show. In slide sorter
view, the area around the thumbnails has a white background. The slide
numbers and automation settings show up in this space as icons.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I think it's a Windows setting. So you'd use Windows Control Panel and
change the windows colors (one of the individual pieces) or Windows theme.

Not sure you can do that in Vista, though. At least, I don't know exactly
how....

Arrgh!! Sorry about that. You need to go into control panel, Display, and under Appearance, set whichever appeals to you.

Michael,

I see your Arrgh!! and I raise you..... (poker lingo)

I found the setting of "window" background, but it effects every
application or at least PPT and I.E.
So, if I want that area to be darker and choose dark-grey, then all
the background areas of my email change to that same color. This is a
royal pain !

You could try another email program other than Mozilla <g>
