We have an existing database which we work with and maintain daily. It
contains email addresses. Is there a simple way for Outlook to use it as an
address book while allowing us to continue using the database normally?

format the e-mail address control on your form as a hyperlink. Then
you can click on the link to send e-mails.

I understand that will work for sending a message to a single recipient.
But that doesn't allow us to browse email addresses in Outlook. So I'm
hoping to find a way to allow an Access database to be used as Outlook
contact list.

Sounds like you'd have to link to the Access table from Outlook, so
you may want to check the Outlook NG.
