WAN Solution

Windows 2000 Server. We just connected a WAN between our
two offices via the internet (using Fireboxes and setting
up a Branch Office VPN tunnel).

We need to allow our users in our remote office to run an
accounting package for reports only. I have tried
installing (deploying) the package across the net to their
system, whereby they access the data on our server. This
works, but when they run the program it is excruciatingly
slow (as it apparently moves tons of data across the net
in order to build their reports). NOT A VIABLE SOLUTION.
If I let them logon (via remote desktop) to our server and
run the reports there (and then print the report to their
printer), it is much faster. However, I do not want
people logged on to our server if I can help it.

SO DOES ANYONE have a suggestion as to how I might
accomplish this task without having them log onto our
server? Thanks for any suggestions.

Our company built a slew of 1U computers and put them in the head office.

These machines have Windows XP Pro with RDP installed. Our remote users
remotely connect via VPN, just as you've described the users connecting to
your server.
