Wallpaper ghosts???

I have just noticed something I haven't seen before. XP Home. I change
wallpaper every week. When I shut down the machine, the last screen I see
just before the blank monitor, is the wallpaper I used LAST week. I can
change this but always see the full screen of the previous wallpaper. Any
suggestions?

Wall paper can burn into the screen. "Screen Savers" are the
protection for this. When you turn it off, you get ghosts!

Screen burn hasn't been a problem for monitors in years and years. Yes,
that was the original reason for screensavers, but they are just toys
now and completely unnecessary. Try setting your desktop to "none"
before putting on your new wallpaper and see if that makes a
difference. I know that's what worked on my Win9x boxen.

No that isn't it. I used the word "ghosts" as a post but it's the full
blown, full color pic that was there last week, whatever the wallpaper. I
don't use a screen saver but put my monitor to hibernate after 15 min of
nonuse. On top of that, monitors built in the last 10 years really don't
burn the way the old ones did.
