Wake Up Problems

Question about sleep/hibernate on desktop computer. When waking up from
sleep/hibernate, sometimes the monitor will not turn back on. The computer
will power back up but the monitor will stay off and the green light on the
monitor just stays orange. We have to reboot from the start button. Is this a
Vista problem, monitor problem, BIOS problem, etc? This computer was built
brand new for us within the past six months, so everything is new. Thanks for
any info on how to fix this.

On mine, when it's in sleep, you have to press the power button on the
computer once, briefly.

My wake up call is the space key. Holding it down for several seconds wakes
up my system from sleep.

Recently had exact problem-HP had me run several procedures-ended up running Recovery disc. Problem solved for few days, then back to same. Frustrating.Gave it up!

I've turned all the power saving options off. Still, out of the blue, I'll
sometimes get the warning message that says computer is entering power save
mode, and there it goes. Once it shuts down on it's own, the monitor won't
come back on unless I restart from the button on the computer. There has to
be a fix somewhere for this, but I haven't found anything yet.

Same problem on an HP Laptop, except the monitor would come on, but the
keyboard was dead. Had to turn it off and reboot to get it running
again. The GEEK squad just shrugged their shoulders - no one seemed to
care - then I had other problems and it went into the "major Repair"
facility - whatever the hell that is --and after two weeks, got it back
with a new motherboard and touch pad. Haven't had it back long enough to
determine if I still have the problem or not!!

I have the same problem on my Vista SP1 desktop. Every morning my system
will not recover from the sleep mode and turn on the monitor so I have to
power down and reboot. It seems to be the same whether I've allowed the
system to power down the monitor or whether I turned off the monitor
manually. The problem seems to have started about the time I recently had
to reinstall Vista with it's accumulated 100 or so updates and all my
application programs. Other than the startup problem it seems to run just
fine. I've carefully gone thru the power options and have selected to stay
with the default options.
