Vista will not stay in Hibernation or Sleep

I posted about this before but, since about last summer my HP DV6000
laptop will not stay asleep or in hibernation mode. It wakes up by
ITSELF like it was possessed by some strange program. This started
last summer and I am sure one of the updates caused this because it
was working fine before. The interesting thing is if I remove the
BATTERY AND POWER for a few seconds after it started sleep/hibernation
it WILL NOT wake up again !!!...So there is some remnant program in
memory that is doing this but I cant figure out what it is. Does
anyone know what process is still active when computer is in Sleep
mode? Obviously in Hibernation mode there must be some minimal power
draw that keeps this process alive and cause it to wake up. I am very
frustrated about this problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi,

Main culprit in these cases are usually automated tasks set to start after a
certain period of inactivity. Check Task Scheduler as well as settings for
antivirus and antispyware programs. Disable or reduce the frequency of these
tasks and you will likely find the system will sleep properly.

In hibernation mode there indeed is some minimal power that will
cause it to wake up. But it is just the same as complete shutdown.
There is always that minimal power available.

Your settings have been saved to a file (hiberfill.sys) in the root
directory, that is used to restore your computer to its previous state.

If you remove the battery and power, the memory is cleared. So there
should not be any remnant program in memory.
==
That being said, there may be a setting in the BIOS to enable/disable
automatic power on after a power outage. It can be a second long, or
less. Such a setting exists on my desktop.
==
It may also be hardware malfunction. The power supply for instance.

I checked just about every possible program that is in startup or
services.Bios does not have any wake up enabled. I also checked any
scheduled processes and none of them seems to help. The fact that
removing the battery solves the problem, indicates that there is a
process running that gives an interrupt to the chip that wakes up the
computer. This just started happening after some Windows update I
believe but not sure. I know other people also mentioned this so I
don't think it's hardware related. I am about the jump ship and buy a
MAC !!!
