w32time error - help needed

I keep getting an error message
'This machine is a PDC of the domain at the root of the forest configure to
sync from external time source using net command 'net time/setsntpserver
name)'

The windows 2000 server also keeps shutting down unexpectedly for which i
can find no reason normally around 5am

can anyone help?

have you look at your event logs to see what is occuring at 5:am to
shutdown your system, probaly an app that is configured to reboot.

Check your scheduled tasks to see if you have a daily task that does a
shutdown. This task could be run from any workstation in your domain that
has credentials to do this function.
