spybot is a spyware removal tool. Although I don't delieve that w32spybot is
a valid program file and may be a virus. There is a w32.spybot.DAZ virus
posted on symantec's web site. Make sure your virus protection is up to date
and scan your PC. For more info go to http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.spybot.daz.html
Hope this helps
It's important to note that all references to "spybot"
that are meant to refer to the Safer-Networking product
should be called Spybot S&D, or Spybot Search & Destroy.
It avoids alot of confusion.
I've been using it for a couple of years and it doesn't trigger
antivirus protection, although one of the recent viruses wouldn't
allow it's installation or use...
In what context are you seeing this? If an antivirus or trojan detecting
program is alerting you to this, look it up in their database online.
Each virus, trojan, etc are named a little bit differently by each vendor.
Example: Even if the virus has the same name, variant B at Symantec's site
is variant C or D at McAfee's site. Specifics about the virus and the
method for removal can be very different. For this reason it's important to
look up the identified intrusion with the vendor of *your* detection
software.
