W2K3 fax Issues

Sorry for posting a W2K3 problem here, but there doesnt seem to be a list
specifically for Fax on W2K3. Anyway, shared Fax Services working fine from
a Windows 2003 box, but i've got one problem with permissions:

Do you really need to have permissions to 'print' set for the group
'everyone'? If so, this is a real problem as i want about 10 people to be
able to send faxes, and not our 35,000+ students as the phone bill will be
huge. Is there anyway i can restrict the 'print' permission to a separate
group?

Any suggestions on this would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Yes, what you are looking for is possible. The permissions required for
sending a fax are 'Submit' (low priority, normal priority or high priority -
any of the three permissions would do). To configure Fax Security go to 'Fax
Service Admin Console' (fxsadmin.msc), right click Local Fax > Properties >
Security > Advanced. Give the Submit permissions to 10 people you'd like to
be able to send faxes & remove Submit from all other user groups.

Read help in Fax Service Admin Console (search on Security) for any further
information. Get back to us in case of any issues.

Hi, we have an issue with faxing. We can receive files but cannot send out
anything.

We're using Microsoft Shared Fax on W2K3 standard edition. Every item in
the outbox gets a failed message either busy or no answer. I've checked
the services and ensured that the proper services are running.
I updated the fax card drivers, the fax line isn't an issue since it works
fine with a dedicated fax machine also receiving ok. I made sure that the
outgoing routing rule was pointing to my fax device. Tried changing baud
rates down, also changing the print processor data type from raw to emf
also text.

Any help would be greatfully received!
