I removed several ad programs. Virus scan comes up
empty. When I select "Shutdown", the computer will
only "Restart". I couldn't find shutdown.exe. I can't
see anything abnormal in registry, services or active
processes. Any Ideas?

Thanks in advanced!

Hi I am having the smae problem too. It start happening when my computer download autoupdate from microsoft website. I asked for help from micrsoft support too but support was asking me to remove the virus from my computer. I bought Mc@fee and it did remove few virus from my computer which Norton was unable to remove. I did change the value from 0 to 1 in registry but no luck. If you find any solution please let me know too if I find it I let you know too
Thanks in advance !!!!!

I would be interested in a response on this. I don't know if microsoft folks are looking at this after checking their bank account :-)

Check your security policy under admin tools. Chances are youre not
running as admin and thus cannot shut the thing down.
