Hello folks,

For some weeks, I have not been able to completely shutdown my PC (restart
and/or power off)
The shutdown procedure seems to progress normally (saving user profile /
shutting down the system) ; then the screen becomes black (probably after
changing resolution, considering the "click" in the CRT), and freezes in
this situation.
I have to power off or reboot manually.

I suppose the CRT still receives a signal on the VGA port because it does
not turn into sleep mode.

I tried UPHclean but it does not show anything in the event log.

Have you ever run into this problem ?
Do you have any idea how do trace and/or diagnose what goes wrong at the end
of the shutdown process ?

My config:
- CPU AMD Athlon XP2100+ ; MB Gigabyte GA-7VAXP ; Leadtek A250LE (GeForce4
Ti4200)
- W2Kpro+SP4
- IE6SP1
Graphix & MB drivers & bios are up to date.

The event log does not show anything special, except
- in System: "the nVidia WDM TVAudio Crossbar service could not start"
- in Applications : WMI ADAP could not create object index 2136 (2022/1848)

Thanks in advance for you help

HI nico:
Perhaps this can help you !
I have used a computer with sis645 chips and i meet your problem. After
i installed the drivers of sis645 chips ,it can shutdown normally. You'd
better install your new mainbornd chip drivers.
