W2K SP4 corrupts \system folder

Have Asus P4C800 Deluxe motherboard using Promise onboard
SATA378 driver (latest 1.26 version from Asus)connected
to Serial Seagate 80gig drive. Using w2k server and it is
the domain controller. Service pack 3 and all other
patches applide with no problems. But when I attempt to
install Service pack4 it corrupts the winnt\system32
\config\system file and windows 2000 will not start. I
have tried using w2k repair and that fails as well. I am
pretty sure it is the onboard Promise378 serial chip that
is causing the failure but neither Microsoft or Asus have
a fix for the problem. Any idea how this problem can be
fixed?

I can reinstall my image of w2k server sp3 and w2k server
runs perfectly and Hardware devices does not show any
hardware problems. But any attempt to install sp4
corrupts the \system directory

.
Problem related to onboard Promise Sata Chip. It is now
fixed and SP4 installs OK. Microsoft and Asus should have
knowledge base article on this problem.
