W2K Server tape backup doesn't see the tape

I have a tape backup in a W2K Server box and the system can't see the tape.
I know something is corrupted, since I tested the physical tape drive with
the same tapes in another box using W2K Server and Win XP and it works
properly.
Can anyone tell me what should I do to restore the tape to work properly in
the original W2K Server box?

I tested using "Veritas Sofware" and using "Windows Backup".

I would appreciate any help.

Are you meaning the tape record (catalog) is disappeared, or simply the tape
drive is disappeared? Or even after the tape is inserted, the tape drive
does not report the presence of media?

After the tape is inserted, the tape drive does not report the presence of
media.
I can see the tape drive in the "Device Manager".
