W2K server can't resolve W2K3 netbios name

Hi everybody:

I have a problem with two windows servers and I've been stuck with it
for two days now.

I recently set up a domain, domain1.com, with a Windows 2003 PDC. The
domain netbios name is DOMAIN1_0 (for example), because the old domain,
before setting up this W2K3, was controlled by an NT4 Server PDC, and it was
called DOMAIN1. There was a time when those two domains coexisted, and hence
the different name.

So far, everything is perfect. However, now I have to setup a new
domain, domain2.com, in the same IP range: 192.168.251.x, controlled by a
W2K Server.

This is the picture:

W2K3 server is called pserver. NT4 was called pserver too.
W2K server is called mserver.

From pserver, in DOMAIN1, I can ping both mserver and
mserver.domain2.com, and it works. However, from mserver, in DOMAIN2, I can
only ping pserver.domain1.com. Ping pserver doesn't work. Why can't
Windows 2000 resolve the netbios name? As a clue, when the old NT4 server is
on, ping pserver does work on Windows 2000, and, of course, it finds NT4.

DNS on both servers seem to be properly configured. What's wrong
about netbios?

I have tried to turn off netlogon service, ipconfig /flushdns,
ipconfig /registerdns and start netlogon service again, and got the same
result, although I think it doesn't have anything to do.

Any help on this will be really appreciated.

Thank very much in advance.

Best regards, Javier.

I didn't write it right:

Where I said:

From pserver, in ***DOMAIN1***, I can ping both mserver and
mserver.domain2.com, and it works. However .....

I should have said:

From pserver, in ***DOMAIN1_0***, I can ping both.....

That is: from W2K3, I can find W2K. But I can't find W2K3 from W2K.

Thank you again.
