W2K SBS convert to W2K standard

Can W2K standard OS be simply installed over W2K SBS to make the box a
standard install without the constrictions of SBS? Just wondering. I came
across a failed migration where an SBS system was cloned onto new hardware,
but now it is reporting it is just W2K standard and the system is suffering
from numerous stop errors and memory dumps?

If the installation is unstable then you should do a clean installation.
It would be a waste of time trying to fix a bad installation with an
installation over the top.

I plan to actually setup a new W2K3 R2 server and completely migrate all data
and applications, since I too am not comfortable with the fallout. I am just
wondering technically if standard W2K could be laid over W2K SBS or for that
matter W2K3 over W2K3 SBS.

Thanks for the quick response

If you mean "Repair installation" when you say "laid over" then
I doublt it very much. If you mean "Install on the same partition
without first removing Win2003 Server" then the answer is
most likely "yes", although I wonder why one would do this.
Much better to start with a clean slate.
