We have several W2K Pro PCs on a test network that we can not get into
because they were used by interns and trainees who changed the admin
passwords or created new ones. Some of the PCs haven't been used in a
couple of years. I did a google search which returned so many programs for
password programs I thought I might do better asking for program
recommendations in this news group.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi

You might try to reset the local Administrator password
with one of the methods mentioned here:

Asked and answered almost daily - have a look at existing posts
with "password" in the Subject line.

If some of the machines haven't been used in a couple of "years", why not
just format and reload them?

A couple are Compaq notebooks and I don't want to go thru the hassle of
finding drivers for them., Time time time.

You're right, I want to reset the admin password. They are W2K Pro NTFS PCs.

Have you used any of the free tools?

Mike

Followed your link and d/l http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/
boot cd which worked perfectly on my Dell notebook as a test.
Wish I could've figured out which scsi drivers to loAd on the boot floppy.

Monday, I'll take it to work and try it on the password broken pcs and
notebooks.
However, these are Compaq notebooks.

Thanks,

Mike

If you don't need the software on the machines, why not just
re-install? If they are Compaqs you may have to search for a floppy
drive, but apart from that it should work fine.

Cheers,

Cliff

That's an option but if this admin password reset tool works I'll save a lot
time.
