W2K NTBackup not backing up to Tape

Hi guys,

I have a problem with NTbackup. It refuses to perform any of the scheduled
backups on our LTO Ultrium tape drive. There is no problem with the device
per se, since I'm able to successfully run manual backups on it.

The server is a W2K standard edition SP4, with latest patches and updates.
I've configured NTBackup to run as a service on the server.

The message I get is the following:
"The operation was not performed because no unused media was available."

Here's what it says under job summary:
"Normal backup. Summary log. Verify data. Use hardware compression. Do not
restrict access to owner or administrator. Some types excluded. Replace data
on media. Use media name 'Media created 8/8/2003 at 1:20 PM'. Use set
description 'Set created 8/8/2003 at 1:23 PM".

Anybody come across this before? What can I do to get it to run?

Thanks,

I'm not sure why you want to run it as a service. Most people run it
as a scheduled task.

The message means that you have no free or reusable media in the pool
which NTBackup is trying to use.
