I have many machines that intermittently get the following
error:
"Explorer.EXE- Application Error
The instruction at xxxxxxx referenced memory at yyyyy. The
memory could not be read Click on OK to terminate the
program"
Clicking OK, the screen goes blank (background remains but
all icons disappear) requiring a re-boot to resolve.

Any ideas??

Thanks for looking

Had that some months ago. Thought it might have been the memory
sockets so I changed the chips around to no avail.

Did a complete setup of the OS (2000) (from CD) in just 30 minutes
complete with format. Then restore from E Drive

Sorry but if you have just 8 GB for the first partition it is a
breeze.
