w2k DCs not showing in browse list?

Rod

Hi

I've got a single w2k domain, split over 3 sites,
connected on as a wan.

Site 1; DC1 (GCC) and DC2, subnet 192.168.1.x, DC1 DNS,
WINS, DHCP

Site 2; DC3 (GCC), subnet 192.168.2.x - DNS, WINS, DHCP

Site 3; DC4 (GCC), subnet 192.168.2.x - DNS, WINS, DHCP

I have replication between the DCs and can ping etc.

The only problem I have is that say when browsing the
network on PC in site 1, I can see DC1 and 2 but not
DC3/4. Basically I can see info on other subnets.

I have created a static mapping in Wins on say site 1 for
the DCs 3/4 but no joy.

Can anyone advise please??

Thanks in advance.

The segment master browsers and domain master browser need to find each other across
the subnets and the only way to do that is to use wins partners/replication or
possibly lmhosts files on the master browsers. The pdc fsmo would be the domain
master browser by default. Any master browser that is multihomed will cause problems
with the browse list and all master browsers need to be wins clients. See links below
for more info. -- Steve

Yes and make sure to remove the static Wins entries before setting up
replication. Static Wins entries should only be used to register non Wins
aware clients (unix) and devices (printers, etc).
